Mammoths have not died out gradually, but have sunk at time the Flood. Probably, the Flood was also a cause of destruction of the ancient civilization of Atlantis. Plato, who lived about 400 years BC wrote, that Atlantis was destroyed 9500 years ago. If we sum 9500 years and our 2000 years and 400 years BC, it turns out Atlantis sank about 12000 years ago. This triple coincidence gives to believe that date is approximately right.
