Description: We speculate on the idea that the root cause of the recently reported diphoton excess at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a nonlinear quantum optics effect. The effect is likely to arise from the strong coupling of photons to the sea of relativistic Coulomb charges carried by light quarks.
